About this happenin
On a Sunday evening in late November, about 100 lighted entries roll through Downtown Fort Worth in the GM Financial Parade of Lights, starting at 6 p.m. Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, a nonprofit, produces it and picks those entries from more than 150 applications. The more inventive the lighting, the better the odds of getting in. Schools, marching bands, dance troupes and arts groups send trucks, flatbeds, bicycles and walking groups covered in lights. The organizer counts more than 70,000 spectators. Watching from the curb is free, and reserved street seats are sold through Etix. Streets downtown start closing at 3 p.m. TEXRail is the organizer's pick for getting in, with park-and-ride at the North Side and Fort Worth T&P stations and free parking at most stops. If you stay home, TXA 21 carries the parade live and shows it again on Christmas Eve.
More in November: 14 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
