About this happenin
On Halloween night the Haunted Halsted Halloween Parade marches up North Halsted Street in Chicago's Northalsted neighborhood, stepping off at 7 p.m. from Belmont and ending at Brompton. The Northalsted Business Alliance calls it Chicago's only Halloween night parade, and Fodor's Travel ranked it among the top ten in the US. More than 300 people in costume walk it. Decorated vehicles come from the Windy City Jeep Club, and the Chicago Full Moon Jam fire performers end the parade with pyrotechnics. Afterward the costume contest moves to the NoHa parking lot at 3514 N. Halsted, where winners in five categories split $4,000 in cash prizes. The categories are Character, Creative, Scary, Group and Youth, for 13 and under. Watching is free and open to all ages. Entering the contest costs $5. Rain or snow, the parade goes on.
