Argyle Lunar New Year Parade

About this happenin

The Argyle Lunar New Year Celebration fills the Argyle commercial corridor in Chicago's Uptown with a parade and a day of street events. The parade steps off at 1 p.m. at Argyle and Sheridan with more than 20 community groups, cultural institutions, dancers and performers, and more performances follow at Argyle and Winthrop. Through the day there are family pop-ups, a Lunar New Year market, a storytime and craft at Bezazian Library, and open houses at neighborhood organizations such as the Vietnamese Association of Illinois. Shoppers at Argyle businesses can win prizes, and in recent years a purchase has come with a Lucky Red Envelope. Uptown United organizes it with local businesses and cultural groups, and the tradition goes back more than 40 years. It is free. The parade can be cancelled if the weather turns unsafe, and towing and parking limits cover Broadway, Sheridan, Argyle and several side streets.

More in February: 6 other Chicago events.
