Chicago Columbus Day Parade
State St & Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601
About this happenin
Chicago's Columbus Day Parade steps off at noon on Columbus Day, the second Monday of October, and runs down State Street from Wacker Drive to Van Buren Street. When road construction has closed State, it has moved to Dearborn Street between the same two cross streets. The Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans puts it on. The committee dates to 1952 and speaks for more than fifty Italian American organizations in the Chicago area. The line of march is floats and marching bands, with dance troupes mixed in. ABC7 carries it live, and a reception on Rush Street follows. Chicago also marks Indigenous Peoples' Day on the same Monday.
